Solana Beach

The water glistens in this beach town that is quietly professional while being home to high-end furniture boutiques on Cedros Avenue and lively music clubs like the Belly Up and Surf & Saddle. Breakfast at the Naked Café will make you a believer while sushi can be found dotting the streets. Make life what it should be!

Surfing can be learned! The best conditions & dangers...
Let us say right away, learn to surf, it is not enough to stay planted on the beach, board under arm. Prior to impress the beach boys, we'll have to drink the cup dozens of times.
The best conditions
Contrary to popular belief, the wind is the No. 1 enemy of the surfer. Because of him, the waves are choppy and held irregularly. Only a light land breeze is welcome, as it digs into the wave and allows the formation of the famous tube.

Snakes on the Beach - Big Storm
Springtime story in Solana Beach about snakes.
Live snakes have begun washing up on two of San Diego County's most popular beaches at Del Mar and Solana Beach. The dazed serpents, plus assorted lizards and frogs, were apparently swept away from their brushy inland homes by the San Dieguito River durind the stormy weather...
Woodies - Woody
In the 1960s and to some degree the 1970s woodies were considered undesirable unfashionable old vehicles. California surfers, among others, realised the potential of these cars; they were cheap, large enough to carry a good number of people, surfboards and equipment, and could be fixed up with woodworking skills.
What is a Sand Dollar?
The name Sand Dollar is a reference to its round flat shape, which is similar to a large coin. The term "sand dollar" can also refer to the test left when a sand dollar dies. By the time the test washes up on the beach, it is usually missing its velvety covering of minute spines and has a somewhat bleached and often slightly greenish appearance due to its exposure to the sun. We Invite you to eat at King's Garden in Solana Beach
If you just so happen to find yourself in the coastal portion of North County and in the mood for Chinese, then King's Garden is a fine recommendation that we have to offer. A short distance from the Solana Beach Coaster Station off of Lomas Santa Fe is a rather small, family owned restaurant that has served the community for decades.
I recommend asking for a seat along the western facing windows which allow much natural light into the interior spaces, while providing views of the Pacific Ocean. Lining the walls of the restaurant are pieces of artwork by local artists, which certainly grants a feeling of integration within the local community. Read more

Encinitas Grand Opening of See's Candies
Candy candy candy! At the Grand Opening of See's Candies in Encinitas today, the store was filled with eager chocoholics, parents, grandparents, and children. The store gave away free books on the history of Sees (by Margaret Moos Pick, a founding producer of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor) and white hats for the kids. Outside, a huge semi painted with candies waited until its cargo was ready to be returned: three race cars! Who knew that Sees had race cars. Racer Ashley Warn relates that she races them regularly, alongside her sister who could not be here today. June 26 2010 Read more

Encinitas Environment Day - Informative Green Event for
San Diegans
Encinitas Environment Day was scheduled on the same day as Fiesta del Sol, this may have taken a toll on the total number of visitors. It is good to see solar energy vendors Matt Andrews and his family who can get your home set up with solar energy with no up front costs, just pay the same as your electricity bill for a time to pay off the installation and materials costs, then the equipment stays with the home and increases its resale value (sunpathsolar.com). There is a suspended PVC garden that we want to copy and make at home, minus the PVC plastic (which emits harmful chemicals over time). If the same concept is executed in metal, then the housing material is safer and the garden is very water efficient. A few members of the Ba'Hai faith explain that Ba'Hai is a religion emphasizing oneness, one world, one planet. The Ba'Hai religion originated as a group of followers of Muhammed, but they are not the same as Muslims. Read more

The Namm Show 2011 "Special Orianthi Panagaris"
Orianthi packs modern girl-power punch into every turn of phrase, but it’s the shredding that takes her brand of rock to an entirely new level. Songs like “Suffocated” and “Think Like A Man” are anthemic rock tracks recalling at time Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Paramore and even a less-music row more-sunset strip Taylor Swift. First single “According To You” is a catchy tale of an ungrateful boyfriend with a killer guitar solo. Read more
